The latest statistic shows that there is an estimation of i billion population in India, there is 32 ministers in the council, also known as cabinet in malaysia.
However our country's population is only their 3%, and yet we have 34 members in our cabinet. And yet there are lots of complaints everyday concerning the efficiency of governing departments.
Quite admire the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Dr. Khir who implemented an award named "Broom Award", to the dissatisfactory government agencies, to "appreciate" their performance for the past whole year. However there are sounds on negative side to the accomplishment of the award. One of the interesting complaints is it brings "Sial". Well stepping into the 21st century many years ago, there are still minority of them talking about "Sial". Is that funny? A broom is clean, so we can use it to clean the house. If it is dirty, who dare to hold it? I wonder which house can exist without the usage of this "sial" thing. My house got 3, for different areas.
Obviously, Dr. Khir's motive is trying to motivate the staff to show their brilliant performance for the next period, and to gain confidence from tax payers. It's easy to understand why Dr.Khir using this method. If the staff can listen to the orders to work hard previously, it is rather better to use a carrot than the cane(Broom Award).
I strongly support Dr. Khir for his positive action by sponsoring brooms for the award next year!
